Memorial 4. We rock!
Nov. 5, 2013—The concept of living and learning on Commons as first year students is real. Yes it works. Throw a bunch of ambitious men and women in a house together and watch how they grow, learn and have fun. Living on Memorial 4, I’ve been a part of so many things that I thought were bigger...
FALLing in love with Vanderbilt
Oct. 28, 2013—Sorry for the tacky title, but it gets my point across: I LOVE fall in Nashville. Here are a few reasons, complete with pumpkin carving, Halloween and the weather.
The Art of Patronage: The Musical Edition
Oct. 18, 2013—This event, for two hours on Friday night, marks the first night of the Blair Salon Series, a program successfully piloted last year. Around 30 people gathered at Dean Wcislo's house––performers, professors, and students from every college––for an evening of chamber music. Chin Up, Anchor Down
Sep. 17, 2013—Luckily I have yet to succumb to the sophomore slump, and looking back at the last month or so, I actually could not be happier to be back in this place of intellectual and social vitality, where racial appropriation in the latest pop music video is typical breakfast conversation, and long nights are trekked in...
Moving in for the Last Time
Aug. 15, 2013—Today, my dad and I left Miami Beach bright and early. We were planning to drive to Chattanooga and spend the night there before picking up my mom and sister at the airport early Friday morning. As it turns out, we were in Chattanooga by 4:30 PM and we decided to drive the final two...
The Commons Explained
Jul. 14, 2013—So, when I was a freshman, housing assignments were mailed on August 1st. We received a packet with our house, room number, room mate and details about the move-in process. Apparently, this year, students could log into their meal-plan selection and figure out which their house. I am sure that this has created quite the buzz on social media, so here is a little bit about all ten houses on the Commons that will hopefully ease some anxieties.
Tips for First-Years
Jul. 9, 2013—After my own first year at Vanderbilt, I kind of forgot about the anxiety and anticipation that leads up to move-in. But, this year, with my sister preparing for her first year at Vanderbilt, and all of her friends leaving to schools around the country, my house is full of the same stress and nerves that I brought home three years ago. I remember wishing that I knew older Vanderbilt students, who could give me advice, or even just calm me down. Here are a few things that all first years should remember.
The First PreVU
Jun. 19, 2013—On Monday, I experienced my very first PreVU day! Since I'm new to working in the admissions office during the summer, I had never before experienced the magic that is PreVU.
