The Nash Bash
Jun. 29, 2014—Upon arriving back home in the States, my friend M. picked me up and we drove back to her quaint summer home. Boy, was my body was grateful for horizontal sleeping surfaces after flying back from Switzerland!
Storytime Snippets
Mar. 31, 2014—Hello friends! Time to draft a list of everything blog-worthy that has happened in, oh say, the past two months that I haven't yet told you about. Okay Ann. Goal-setting time. I'm going to tackle each one of these subjects, including events like Unveiling the Hijab, BCM Spring SPOTS, a trip to Chattanooga, and perhaps twelve other things, and write about them. Just one a week. Doable.
Blair Salon Series: Singer-Songwriter Night
Jan. 18, 2014—This is my second time attending the Blair Salon Series at Dean Wcislo’s House. This particular Friday night was just as wonderful, and perhaps even better, than last time. When I attended in October last semester, the theme of the evening was “fairy tales,” including a piece from the musical “Into the Woods.” Tonight’s theme...
School’s Out!
Jan. 7, 2014—Can you believe it? Neither could we: Vanderbilt cancelled classes yesterday!
Why Vanderbilt: A Musician’s Perspective, Part 2
Nov. 8, 2013—Last time, I left you with a cliffhanger. Why did I choose Vanderbilt over a conservatory?
The Art of Patronage: The Musical Edition
Oct. 18, 2013—This event, for two hours on Friday night, marks the first night of the Blair Salon Series, a program successfully piloted last year. Around 30 people gathered at Dean Wcislo's house––performers, professors, and students from every college––for an evening of chamber music. The music was centered on fairy tales, partly as foreshadowing for the upcoming production of "Into the Woods" by Vanderbilt Opera, and partly as celebration of quirky, wonderful feats of imagination.
Performance Weekend or Parents Weekend?
Oct. 5, 2013—Hello friends! This past weekend was filled with two of my favorite things; performances and my parents! Like my fellow star blogger, Erica Graff, my weekend kicked off on Thursday evening at Vanderbilt University Theatre’s production of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. I did not know much about the show before hand, but it was fantastic...
Kids, Let’s Go to the Symphony!
Aug. 21, 2013—As a cellist at Blair, I get geekily giddy about the Nashville Symphony’s upcoming concert season. As a poor college student, I am sorely short in trying the funds to buy tickets. A huge “however” is in order though, because the Nashville Symphony has a program called SoundCheck for classical music loving students like me and you to be able to soak in some fantastic orchestral performances and bask in all the grandeur of the Schermerhorn Hall!
Inside Blair: Chamber Music
Jul. 11, 2013—Next up on this series called “Inside Blair”, where we unravel the mysteries of the music school, is the chamber music program. If you want to understand how the ensembles are determined, who the coaches are, what kind of music we play, and more, continue reading to your heart’s content!
