Melo Cyrus
Dec. 6, 2013—Perhaps even more daunting than the prospect of imminent papers and finals was The Melodores‘ annual winter concert. The couple of weeks leading up to (even Thanksgiving break, to an extent) had been rather taxing, to be honest, and juggling rehearsals and classes was becoming increasingly difficult. I was also, however, incredibly excited. Our practices...
Blogging with the Stars
Dec. 6, 2013—In case you didn't know, my fellow bloggers are super stars. On Wednesday evening, I had the fantastic opportunity to witness not one or two but THREE of my fellow bloggers in various performances on campus.
No-Nathan November
Dec. 2, 2013—That time of year thou mayst in me behold When yellow leaves, or none, or few, do hang Upon those boughs which shake against the cold, Bare ruined choirs, where late the sweet birds sang. William Shakespeare wrote fondly of autumn, as did many other very accomplished and eloquent poets. None, however, described autumn with...
Melodorable
Sep. 22, 2013—The a cappella Melodore concert was a lot better than my corny pun!
Reasons I am Excited for Fall
Sep. 17, 2013—In light of the recent media buzz surrounding the coming of fall (most clearly marked by the pumpkin spice latte coming back), I figured I’d share some of the reasons why I personally am excited for fall here at Vanderbilt. A (Not So) Melo Goodbye
Apr. 27, 2013—For most of us, this is our last weekend at Vanderbilt, decidedly one of stressful cramming, overnighters hauled along successive nights of insurmountable worry and an endless supply of our favorite Bongo Java coffee, and the prospect of imminent leaving. I will be following up later this week with some final thoughts on my freshman...
Time is a Fickle Thing
Apr. 12, 2013—It really is. Waiting until you slip into a comfortable pace of undulating routine, it creeps up, unbeknownst to you, and assaults you with all its might, leaving you dazed and confused, so much so that you can’t wonder what has happened, and all you can do is lament the fact that as soon as...
Wobbling and Gangnam-ing for a Cause
Feb. 19, 2013—16 hours of standing later, I have survived Vanderbilt Dance Marathon 2013! Whew. Here's the scoop on the 13.1 hour dance party that had Vandy students juking and jiving to raise money for the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt.
The Perfect Parents’ Weekend
Feb. 12, 2013—Normally AOII has a Dad’s Weekend in the fall and Mom’s Weekend in the spring, but this year we decided to group them together and have Parents’ Weekend. Since Knoxville is only three hours away, both my parents were able to visit me this weekend and it was just what I needed.
