SAQ: How has Phi Lamb Impacted You?
Jan. 9, 2017—Welcome to SAQ, where Sophie Answers Questions! Here, learn more about Phi Lamb, the Christian sorority on campus. Phi Lamb was one of the best decisions I made my freshman year. My ‘pledge class’ (the people who go through New Member Education with) was about 6-7 girls, and I made some of my closest friendships...
New Year, New Classes!
Jan. 6, 2017—Although I wish I were a freshman again and had four more years at Vanderbilt, there are some perks to getting older and being closer to the dreaded “G” word (a.k.a graduation!). I always look forward to registering for classes and planning my schedule for the next semester, and being a junior, I got all...
Some Off-Campus Things
Dec. 30, 2016—Nashville is super cool. There are plenty of things to do off-campus.
Favorite Off Campus Study Breaks
Dec. 1, 2016—With my second fall semester winding down, I should be studying for finals, but all I can think about is Christmas Break! I’ve only been back from Thanksgiving for a week, and I’m already overwhelmed by the end of semester assignments and finals prep. Some days, the best thing for my sanity is to take...
Diwali 2016
Nov. 23, 2016— On 12th November, the South Asian Cultural Exchange (SACE) organized the biggest student-run multicultural performance on campus, Diwali. I have been a part of this annual showcase ever since freshman year, and every year I try to mix things up and perform a different dance. Diwali has a host of dances, such as classical,...
Gift-Giving at Vandy
Nov. 21, 2016—‘Tis Holiday Season on campus and the festivities have begun! I love everything about this time of year, but gift giving is definitely my favorite part. There are a few different groups at school that I’m involved in that are partaking in gift giving and I can’t wait to go shopping for them all!
Sophie Druffner: My Life in GroupMe
Nov. 21, 2016—Since my phone is dead so often, GroupMe and email are my primary forms of communication. I’m 90% sure that everything in my life could be reduced into GroupMe, and actually, looking over this post now, I think that it has. (If you have further questions on the things mentioned here, check out the relevant...
University Catholic: Prayer Group (Bible Study) Edition!
Nov. 21, 2016—Why a bible study, though? Especially to freshman me, who had been to youth group exactly once and never really read the bible, “bible study” sounded scary. Like we were translating Greek or something. Seriously, scary stuff. For some reason, the two words also sounded like a huge commitment. Maybe it was the student part of me reacting at the word “study,” but I really didn’t like the sound of that word. Enter “prayer group.” (Shoutout to Phi Lamb :) thanks, y’all :)).
Why I Love Seeing so Many Vanderbilt Students on my Flight Home
Nov. 21, 2016—Every time I fly home from school for a vacation, I see so many Vanderbilt students both in the airport and, more specifically, on my flight! And this is so much fun.
