When Dad Comes to Visit
Oct. 27, 2013—A few weeks ago my dad wanted to see me, so he booked plane tickets to come down to Nashville last weekend! I haven't seen any of my family yet this semester, so I was super excited to see him. We spent the weekend doing the usual family-comes-to-town things: eating out, going to the Vandy game, and shopping.
Let Them Eat Cake
Oct. 22, 2013—Yesterday was a great day due to the fact that I got free cake not once, but twice! If I haven't said it enough, I love sugar, so I'm all over the scene when there is free dessert. When I got two emails yesterday telling me that there would be free cake for biomedical engineers and at my sorority, I was really excited and naturally went to both.
Alpha Chi Sisterhood Retreat
Sep. 22, 2013—Last weekend I went to Alpha Chi's annual sisterhood retreat- yay for sisterhood bonding! The retreat was held at a YMCA camp on the outskirts of Nashville.
Rafting Retreat
Sep. 3, 2013—This weekend was Alpha Chi's annual rafting retreat in Ocoee, TN. There was tons of sisterhood bonding and fun!
I’m Gonna Pop Some Tags
May. 27, 2013—This semester, I had the opportunity to attend my first-ever sorority date party with my dear pal, Lauren, a member of Alpha Chi Omega. What's all the hype with Greek date parties, you ask? Here's the two-cents you've been looking for, from a non-Greek, costume-loving, incoming junior.
Mom’s Weekend
Mar. 1, 2013—Last weekend was Mom's Weekend for my sorority, Alpha Chi Omega, and I had so much fun hanging out with my mom.
Big/Little Reveal!!
Feb. 22, 2013—So for those who know nothing about Greek Life (don't worry, that was me a year ago) every sorority has Bigs and Littles. Basically, every new member is a Little and gets a Big, who is someone a year older than them to show them the ropes and hang with a ton. You also then join a family with a Grandbig (like Eileen). As a new member, I was so excited to get a Big.
Busy Busy Busy
Feb. 18, 2013—I haven't had much time to blog lately because I've been so busy with class and activities. Here's a peak into what I've been up to.
Half the Sky
Feb. 2, 2013—Thursday night I attended a talk by Nicholas Kristof, coauthor of the book, Half the Sky. I had to go to the event for AXO, but I was actually really excited because I read the book this past summer and loved it. It also just so happens that Half the Sky was the Commons Reading this year.
Recruitment 2013
Jan. 16, 2013—These past two weekends I spent at sororities for spring recruitment. I rushed as a sophomore, which is not common, but not unheard of. Coming into college, I didn't know that much about sororities, as none of my family was greek. After watching lots of my friends join sororities last year and have wonderful experiences, I decided that I wanted to rush as well!
