Every Day I’m Shuffling
Dec. 24, 2012—On Saturday, they gave us a pre-tour lecture on tips and tricks for China. You probably already know that the water isn't of the greatest quality there, but thinking past that a bit, salads probably are not the healthiest, in terms of being germ-free, option of foods. BYOTP: Bring your own toilet paper. Cars sometimes drive on the sidewalks. When bargaining, aim for a tenth of the price. They also included a handy list of Chinese words to know, such as numbers and common sayings.
Digging a Hole
Dec. 18, 2012—Well, let's just dive in, shall we? As I was mentioning in my last post, the Vanderbilt Orchestra is going to be going on tour to China! We've known about this trip since the summer of 2011, so with the approach of our departure in under a week, I am more excited than for the imminent approach of a musical adventure in a land far, far away!
Three-Eighths
Dec. 18, 2012—Hello one, hello all! It has been a long time since I've posted. Not that I haven't been blogging... it was just a matter of actually publishing my drafts. WO Smith Music School
Dec. 14, 2012—One of the things that I wanted to keep up in college was playing the flute. I considered joining an orchestra or band for credit, but it was too big of a time commitment for me. However, I wanted to keep playing the flute as it had been such a big part of my life for over 10 years. That was when I heard about the WO Smith Music School.
Dodecs Chillin.
Dec. 13, 2012—As this semester comes to an end, so has my time (until next August of course) with my awesome all-male a capella group, the Vanderbilt Dodecaphonics. I joined the “Dodecs” last fall as a sophomore, and since then it has been a really important [and fun] part of my Vanderbilt experience. This semester I was...
Performances! Performances! And yes….more performances!
Dec. 13, 2012—As the semester comes to a close, student group performances start popping up like mad! Every weekend is so chock full of performances you can't conceivably attend them all and still have time to study and sleep. As such, I wanted to write this blog post to talk about all the great students organizations that Vanderbilt has to offer.
Oh No, I Might Like Country Music
Dec. 10, 2012—Nashville without country music would be like the Texas State Fair without fried food.
The Grammy Nominations Concert!
Dec. 6, 2012—Tonight, on this lovely Wednesday evening, I had one of the best experiences of my life.
Ain’t No Party Like a Steel Drum Party
Dec. 4, 2012—I've mastered the art of steel drum and conquered my first Vandy steel drum performance. Look ma, I'm growing up! So cultured.
