Just do… Everything!!! (Status of Everything: 12.5% Completed!)

Dec. 23, 2015—Two months ago I sat down in my advisor’s office and pulled up a word document entitled “The Grand Plan.” We both laughed a little as I showed her how I had planned out the next four years, study abroad and all. The Grand Plan involves an Applied Mathematics Major, a General Music Minor and...

The Final Final: Finals Week at Vandy!!!

Dec. 22, 2015—During a stay at Washington University at St. Louis for Multicultural Celebration Weekend, I stayed with six sophomores. As I walked around the dorm, one of them told me that her room reflected the state of her mind. During Finals week, she told me, she couldn’t even see her bed under all the clothes, papers, and books. Horrified, I swore that this would never be me.

Not for the Faint of Heart: Math 2500

Dec. 22, 2015—As I looked around on the first day of class Math 2500: Multivariable Calculus and Linear Algebra, thirty-nine other kids sat in the chairs in the classroom in Stevenson 1. By the time of the final exam, eighteen remained. This is the story of the first semester of the best math class offered in freshman year, called Math 2500, taught by the legend who is Professor Bruce Hughes.

MY HOUSE!!!!! (And my beautiful floor!)

Nov. 26, 2015—I came to college expecting nice dorms, but not hotel-nice. I didn’t expect the lobby of Hank to be an actual lobby (hence, “Hotel Hank.”) I didn’t expect the marble floors or columns everywhere, or the nice cleaning lady who cleans the bathrooms every single day. You love puns too :) :) :))

Nov. 26, 2015—CHEM LAB IS SO MUCH FUN. There’s something exciting about making your own green crystals, extracting iron from cereal, or measuring the ascorbic acid in orange juice. When I drew out the magnetic stirrer from the cereal extraction today, actual iron had accumulated on the sides of the magnetic stirrer. I love those moments when chemistry becomes so real to me

Blair Life! (Sort of).

Oct. 26, 2015—"You're a Blair kid, right?" "Yes! Well.. sort of." Having been asked this question since the very beginning days of school, I'm very used to it. But the answer is still sort of complicated, and will continue to be so until December. (*Cue Beethoven's Fifth*).

This is Vanderbilt.

Oct. 7, 2015—I spun through the air and then landed on the concrete, laughing. It was midnight and Zack and I had just attempted the swing dancing routine Around the World. Around us, about seventy-five people swing danced, whirling around in sundresses or sweatpants, their feet scraping against the floor of the top of the parking garage.
