‘Summer’
Summer Summary
Aug. 17, 2011—Hey everybody! I know I’ve been MIA lately, but I’ve had a surprisingly busy summer! I’ll try to catch you up on some of my adventures:
Air Assault Class 20-11
Aug. 16, 2011—This July, I attended the Sabalauski Air Assault School at Fort Campbell, KY. 10 1/2 days of horrendously hot weather ensued! The previous sentence is the most concise (still very accurate) way to describe my Air Assault experience this summer. However, I’ve been told that typing one sentence will not suffice, so I will endeavor to...
Summer Send-Off
Aug. 16, 2011—Every year, the week before school begins, Vanderbilt alumni chapters around the country hold Summer Send-Off parties. These gatherings bring together current Vanderbilt students, alumni, family and friends in order to welcome new students to the University. The Send-Off gives these new students (and their families) their first taste of the amazing Vanderbilt community.
Summer’s End
Aug. 10, 2011—It’s been a while, and as the reality sinks in that I’ll be moving into my dorm at Vanderbilt in one week, I feel an update on my summer is necessary. Since you’ve ideally read about my summer’s start, I can now share a little more about what I’ve done and learned this summer. Working with...
The Completely Average Life
Aug. 8, 2011—It’s been a while, reader. You’ve had three months to sit and reflect and continuously re-read my last post, refreshing every few hours for the entirety of the summer in hopes that you’ll be rewarded with a new one… and here it is. Unlike TC, I lack the ability to remember even highly important facts...
The Parthenon and Pancake Pantry
Jul. 28, 2011—This is the first summer I have spent in Nashville but about three weeks ago, five of my close friends from my hometown came to Vanderbilt for the 4th of July bringing a little glimpse of summers past with them. It was great getting to see so many close friends in one place as many...
My Friend the Pre-Med
Jul. 25, 2011—Did you know that Vanderbilt’s Class of 2014 represents 48 of the 50 states, in addition to representing various countries around the world? This past week, one of my best friends from Vanderbilt took a family vacation to Miami Beach, so I got to have a mini reunion!
Physics I DONE!
Jul. 16, 2011—I know it’s been a while. Sorry for the brief lapse. Since the last time I posted, my first summer session ended. I officially completed Physics I and the lab. I am now taking Physics II and the lab, which will run through the second week of August. Although summer classes are not ideal, and...
Que Chilero!
Jul. 11, 2011—“Very nice!” or “So cool!” are common phrases in English. “Chilero,” a word unique to Guatemala, expresses the same sentiment. “¡Que Chilero!” was my favorite of the new phrases I learned while on my sixteen day Guatemalan adventure. Immediately after completing spring semester finals, I departed for a Guatemalan service trip with my 18-year-old brother...
Fourth of July in Nashville
Jul. 10, 2011—Typically I spend my Fourth of July weekend with my extended family in Chicago, Illinois but this summer was a little different. As I have mentioned before in previous posts, I have a research position on campus here at Vanderbilt University this summer and I decided to spend the holiday in Nashville this summer.
