Music Making
Nov. 22, 2012—This post coming to you fresh from the Yeh kitchen, as Mr. Turkey makes friends with his neighbors Butternut Squash, Carrot, and Potatoes in the Oven. Today I was practicing again. Such is the life. Anyways, I had the strangest feeling: the realization of the complete disconnect among the fingers of my left hand, which tapped the wire strings against the neck of my cello, and my right arm swinging back and forth like a pendulum- right, left, right left- and the noise which was just coming out of the wood. It was so bizarre.
Disney disney!
Nov. 16, 2012—I have been on a very looooong blog hiatus, but no worries, I did not forget about you guys! I do have one big update about my 3rd semester at Vanderbilt..
Art in the Vandy Bubble
Nov. 12, 2012—I am not creative or artistic in any way. But, that's ok! I can still get my fill of the performing arts here on campus. This weekend, I saw Taming of the Shrew, played Drag Queen Bingo and saw Later That Same Evening.
Symphonie Fantastique
Nov. 7, 2012—So what better for Blair kids to do on their Friday night than go to the Schermerhorn Symphony Center for a delightful evening of music? We boarded the bus downtown, and when we arrived, we saw around half of our school there. From the pianists to violists to vocalists to horn players, the Blair School of Music had invaded the Nashville Symphony. Yes, that is what we music majors do to kick off our weekends.
Fourth Fridays Return!
Oct. 8, 2012—If you all weren't aware, I'm a pretty big Melodores fan. I've written about their performances before, and I attended the ICCA South Semifinals which were held here at Vandy. I'm also a pretty big fan of supporting fellow bloggers in their endeavors and week from this past Friday I was able to combine both of those!
Live on the Green
Sep. 28, 2012—Nashville isn’t adoringly nicknamed “Music City” for nothing. The city has a plethora of music venues, outdoor festivals, and up-and-coming bands. Whether you’re in town for a day, a weekend, or 4 years of college, you should be getting a taste of the country, folk, rock, punk, or whatever your ears and your heart desire.
I’ve Got The Victory!
Sep. 24, 2012—This was our first road trip since I've been in Victory and I definitely want to do it again. We were invited to sing at an alumnus' church so we took the 6-hour drive there and back for less than 24 hours in Cincinnati...
Blair Concert the First
Sep. 17, 2012—I'm not good at estimating, so I'll safely guess between 30 and 8,000 people showed up for Blair's first concert. But actually, Ingram was absolutely packed. Not even when Audra McDonald or the Berlin Philharmonic Wind Quintet came was there an audience such as this. Apparently, people even had to listen to and watch the concert from the lobby telly, it was so full! Success! People finally realizing and taking advantage of the free Blair concerts!
The Bucket List
Sep. 7, 2012—So I may be in complete denial that this is my senior year at Vandy, but that didn't stop me from making a bucket list of all the things that I want to do before I graduate in May!
Food Truck Motorcade
Sep. 4, 2012—Nashville hosted a wonderful gastronomic event this weekend at Centennial Park that I took advantage of: The Nashville Street Food Awards. It was a festival of "nomnoms" without compare.
