Church-Hopping in Nashville

Oct. 6, 2013—Since almost the first week of college, I’ve spent my Sunday mornings exploring the local Christian church scene. Although it’s possible to go to church on campus––there’s the Episcopalian church at St. Augustine’s Chapel, Catholic services at Benton Chapel––I like exploring the surrounding city whenever I have the time. I also attend nondenominational churches. In...

A Malaysian Sensation

Sep. 6, 2013—After giddily accepting the invite to Malaysian Night on Facebook the day before, I was so excited when my friends and I actually stepped into the SLC on Saturday night! The Malaysian Student Association at Vanderbilt (MSAV) put on a night of festivities, food, and fun in celebration of Eid, a religious holiday for Muslims, and Merdeka, the Malaysian Independence Day!

The Beginning of the End

Aug. 20, 2013—Round 4 commences in a few hours. Being a 3-time veteran of first-day preparations, I knew that it was necessary to soak in all the lazy free time I possibly could before the first day of classes. Once that hits, the busy-bee life of a student here on campus starts!

1 a.m. Thoughts from Sleepy Summer Sam

May. 29, 2013—I am awake into the wee hours of the night yet again. Except, this time, there is no geology lab due tomorrow or massive marketing presentation to fret about. I'm just...thinking. Weird stuff. College will do that to you, you know, make you think about and appreciate the blessings you have that you simply overlooked before.

Breathe!

Mar. 27, 2013—Yesterday I was fortunate enough to participate in Breathe--Sigma Phi Lambda's night of prayer and praise. Victory has been invited to perform there since I was a freshman, mostly because we share several members. However, last night's event was so much more extensive than any night of prayer and praise I have ever attended. The Weekend That Keeps On Giving

Feb. 24, 2013—Hello folks! I apologize for my long-term absence. The bar is higher this semester all around—so I had to make sure my FIRST BLOG POST OF 2013 is/was the best thing you have ever read, which means I had to step up my game in the “living life” department. And it goes a little something...

Hanging Out with the SEC

Jan. 22, 2013—The title of this post might lead you to think that I am about to tell you something about sports. Well, my friend, I must inform you that you are unfortunately incorrect, because though the SEC is a classification typically associated with sports, this weekend consisted of my journey to another SEC school to meet with students from other BCMs (Baptist Collegiate Ministries).

I’m Wide Awake

Nov. 12, 2012—This past weekend, I took a vacation. After a hectic week in which I had three midterms and a nine minute speech all within the span of five days, I needed some time off to regain my sanity. Sure, I could have waited a week and relaxed over Thanksgiving Break. But, a better opportunity presented itself.
