My 4 Sides of Greek Life
Jan. 31, 2011—A few weeks ago Erica and Eileen gave you a good idea of what the decision to go Greek or not is like for a freshman at Vanderbilt. However, as a senior who has literally been on all sides of the system, I thought I would share some my experiences with you also. Read on...
Sorority Perks
Jan. 30, 2011—As a member of Vanderbilt’s varsity Women’s Lacrosse team, I hope to offer a new perspective to the blogging site by providing information about activities, services, and service opportunities both inside and outside of athletics. Having just gone through sorority recruitment, I would like to focus this first blog on my participation in Greek Life.
Speed Dating
Jan. 28, 2011—Last Wednesday, I did speed dating…with the sophomores in my sorority! Since sophomores will be paired with new members in a few weeks and become their “Big,” the two classes needed to get to know each other better.
Outside of Greek Life
Jan. 17, 2011—This week, about 50% of the women in the class of 2014 participated in Panhellenic Recruitment, which ended with yesterday’s Bid Day. Not to worry – the Melodores debut album “Rain Check” WILL be coming out soon though!! In order to promote our name...
Vanderbilt Traditions: Founder's Walk
Aug. 23, 2010—Yesterday was Founders Walk, which is an old Vanderbilt tradition to welcome new first-year and transfer students. The nearly 2000 walkers trek the outskirts of campus and end up at Wilson Lawn, not before encountering a HUGE crowd of our student groups lining the final stretch, cheering and welcoming everyone to campus. To be honest, when I asked...
Rains of Spring
Apr. 28, 2010—Rites of Spring was not ideal by anybody’s means…weather-wise. Apparently it has rained for the past two years leading up to this year’s Rites… Between cancellations of bands (yes Passion Pit cancelled on us because of sickness) and delays because of monsoon-like rain, it seemed like things were going to be a disaster. The show...
