Getting Involved: Commons Leadership
Feb. 6, 2015—Hey guys! If you saw my last blog post, you may remember me writing about my recent appointment as the Fifth Floor Representative for Stambaugh House. If you haven’t read it, you should. It’s here. Thanks. In today’s post, I’d like to talk a little bit more about some of the amazing opportunities available to...
Vandy’s Got Talent
Dec. 18, 2014—So in case you haven’t heard yet, Vanderbilt is home to students with UNBOUNDED TALENT. One incredible thing about our students is the amount of performing arts talent they have. Not trying to brag or anything, but we are home to the first collegiate a cappella group to EVER win NBC’s Sing Off as of...
The VU from the StamBalcony
Nov. 10, 2014—Hey guys! So today I want to talk to you about one of the best parts of the freshman experience at Vanderbilt…the Martha Rivers Ingram Commons! As you may already know, all first year students at Vanderbilt live in one of ten Houses on the Commons: Crawford, East, Gillette, Hank Ingram, Memorial, Murray, North, Stambaugh,...
A Series of Firsts
Oct. 24, 2014—Hey guys! My name’s Ishani and I’m a freshman in the School of Engineering. As an international student from London, England, my time at Vanderbilt could be characterized as a series of firsts, for example going to my first football game (a rite of passage, even though I had no idea what was going on and accidentally...
Final Traditions
May. 6, 2014—As I mentioned in a previous post (better late than never, right?) second semester holds quite a few of my favorite Vanderbilt traditions. Two that I haven't talked about yet are Rites of Spring and the annual Black and Gold game!!
It’s the 30 Day Countdown…
Apr. 9, 2014—Right. 30 days until Commencement. I honestly cannot fathom how it's time for that already.
Guest Lecture at the Curb Center
Feb. 18, 2014—This year, the Communication Studies department moved to the Curb Center. I am not going to lie. When I first heard that my classes were neither going to be on main campus nor on commons, but rather in a totally separate location, I was pretty upset. I had no desire to walk almost a mile each way to and from class. I also feared that I would always be late for lunch plans. But, the new space is definitely worth it. In addition is new classrooms, the Communications office suite actually houses the entire department. There is also a great auditorium where the department can host speakers, which brings me to the point of this post.
New Classes at the New Rec
Feb. 2, 2014—Part of the reason for my sparse blogging is that I have been spending a lot of time at the Student Rec. Quite frankly, in my previous three and a half years at Vanderbilt, I generally despised going to the rec. I love working out, but the rec was old and smelly, and there were...
The Final 100 Days
Jan. 31, 2014—Well, just like that, January is just about over, and, today marks only 100 days left until graduation. I am in denial, and I would say that most of my friends are right there with me. In honor (mourning) of this special day, the Senior Class Fund, held an entire week of festivities, culminating in...
