Rand’s Holiday Feast
Dec. 8, 2011—Instead of the usual Quiznos for dinner, last night I feasted on lamb, oysters, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. No, I’m not an amazing cook all of sudden, but rather Rand hosted its annual Holiday Celebration from 5-8pm.
Mayfield Showcase
Dec. 1, 2011—As I’ve mentioned a few times before, I live in a Mayfield, which is like a small two-story house with ten people who each have their own room, share two bathrooms, a common room, and a kitchenette.
Tortellini Tuesday Revisited: An Insider’s View
Nov. 30, 2011—Last year, one of my friends and fellow bloggers, Ryan, wrote about Tortellini Tuesday. In fact, he even mentioned me! It’s because I work for Vanderbilt Dining to fulfill my work study allotment.
A Carnivalesque Thanksgiving
Nov. 26, 2011—This semester I am taking a course in the French department called “From Carnival to Carnivalesque.” It is taught by an amazing professor, Dr. Robert Barsky. But, don’t let him catch me calling him Dr. such-and-such. He prefers to go by Bob.
A Dorm-Room Thanksgiving
Nov. 25, 2011—Every year now, my friends have all organized a special Thanksgiving dinner where we all get together and eat. And eat. And eat! Can you tell that there’s always a ton of food?
Cooking Class at Whole Foods
Oct. 1, 2011—Today, CityVU offered three private cooking classes taught by the Whole Foods Salud! cooking school. 462 people applied and 30 lucky winners were selected to attend the class with a guest. I didn’t win, but my friend Kristen did, and she brought me along!
Farm to Fork!
Sep. 28, 2011—Last night, I had the best meal ever of the year at the second annual Farm to Fork Dinner, which was held on Peabody Lawn. This event celebrated local Nashville farmers and Vanderbilt’s effort to support small businesses in the dining industry. It was awesome!
My Sister Visits Vandy!
Sep. 26, 2011—This past weekend, my sister Brittany visited Vanderbilt. Below are her thoughts about her weekend:
Free Pizza for Everyone!
Sep. 23, 2011—I am currently sitting on a couch outside of Rand anxiously awaiting free pizza. At 12 noon, CityVU is hosting the Nashville Pizza Challenge. This event, held once a year, is a chance for Vanderbilt students to decide which pizza is the best in Nashville.
General Manager Night, Courtesy of Vanderbilt Dining
Sep. 7, 2011—Last night, Rand was buzzing. In addition to Tortellini Tuesday at Rand, Vanderbilt Dining Managers were giving away free brookies and chocolate covered strawberries. All we had to was ask them a question!
