‘College Life’
Meloroo 2014
Apr. 19, 2014—The following is a co-written post by bloggers Caitlyn and me (Victoria). We’ve just returned from Saturday night’s Melodores concert. It was, of course, fantastic! There are not one, but two, bloggers in the Melodores– Nathan and Rani. Since this is Nathan’s senior (and consequently last) show and he is insanely busy, we decided to...
My Commons Seminar: How a One-Hour Course Changed My Life
Apr. 13, 2014—An overview of Commons Seminars and my fabulous experience in one this spring.
For the Love of Science
Apr. 10, 2014—Vanderbilt Student Volunteers for Science is an organization that helps spread the love of science to elementary and middle school students in the larger Nashville community. While this initially looks like a philanthropic opportunity for science geeks, fear not! All you need to have is the willingness to serve younger students--the science stuff comes straight from the manual.
It’s the 30 Day Countdown…
Apr. 9, 2014—Right. 30 days until Commencement. I honestly cannot fathom how it's time for that already.
Let the Nostalgic Posts Begin
Apr. 1, 2014—Well, this past Friday the Undergraduate Admissions Office was shut down because that was the day all of the admissions counselors ceremoniously (kind of) sent out letters to accepted students! Today’s course is one I highly recommend: Arts 120: Introduction to B&W Photography. In high school, I took AP 2D Design and focused my work around photography–it’s something I’ve always enjoyed....
Learning To Swim & Bad Metaphors
Mar. 12, 2014—My attempts at turning my college experience into a bad metaphor about learning to swim!
Guest Lecture at the Curb Center
Feb. 18, 2014—This year, the Communication Studies department moved to the Curb Center. I am not going to lie. When I first heard that my classes were neither going to be on main campus nor on commons, but rather in a totally separate location, I was pretty upset. I had no desire to walk almost a mile each way to and from class. I also feared that I would always be late for lunch plans. But, the new space is definitely worth it. In addition is new classrooms, the Communications office suite actually houses the entire department. There is also a great auditorium where the department can host speakers, which brings me to the point of this post.
The Alexander Technique
Feb. 9, 2014—This semester, I am enrolled in a class through the Blair School of Music. Blair is in the back corner of campus, so before this semester, I had really only been inside the building once or twice. I figured there was no time like my last semester to explore a new facet of campus.
