General Manager Night, Courtesy of Vanderbilt Dining

Sep. 7, 2011—Last night, Rand was buzzing. In addition to Tortellini Tuesday at Rand, Vanderbilt Dining Managers were giving away free brookies and chocolate covered strawberries. All we had to was ask them a question!

Sep. 4, 2011—I know what you’re thinking. It’s too early for Christmas, and summer just ended. How could it possibly be the most wonderful time of year? Better than Christmas and most magnificent than summer, it’s FOOTBALL SEASON!

The National Folk Festival

Sep. 4, 2011—This weekend was the 73rd National Folk Festival, and my friends and I went not once, but twice. The (FREE) event was downtown on the Bicentennial Capitol Mall, next to the farmers market.  I haven’t spent much time in this area of Nashville, so this festival was a great opportunity to get off campus. The...

Small Groups in BIG Classes

Aug. 30, 2011—Vanderbilt is a medium to small private research institution. We have an 8:1 student-to-faculty ratio, with over 3,000 full-time faculty members. 81% of classes have less than 30 students and 92% have less than 50 students. When first you arrive as a freshman, Vanderbilt (heretofore known as “she“) begins to fatten you up, stuffing you with both numerous orientation and get-to-know-you events and a wealth of free food. The meal plan does not activate until the Monday before classes start,...

Running in Nashville

Aug. 24, 2011—I feel like I’m always in class sometimes. But when I get really stressed out, I go for a run with my best friend, and roommate. No matter where on campus we are, or what project or paper we are working on, we cut an hour out of our days to go run together and...

FOOTBALL

Aug. 24, 2011—I love sports. When I was younger, my dad would quiz me, on the way to swim practice, about football, baseball, and hockey teams. We would play “What, Where”, where he would say the team and I would have to name the city, and vice versa. I got to know all of the teams pretty...
