The Most Wonderful Time of Year

I know what you’re thinking. It’s too early for Christmas, and summer just ended. How could it possibly be the most wonderful time of year? Better than Christmas and most magnificent than summer, it’s FOOTBALL SEASON!Yesterday, our Vanderbilt Commodores kicked off the season against the Elon University Phoenix. The Commodores looked great under new head coach, James Franklin. The final score was 45-14. Hopefully, this momentum will carry over into next week as we face UCONN at home.

I absolutely love football season here! Football here is more than just the game itself. Most of the students here make football (and tailgating) an all-day affair, starting with a BBQ lunch and ending with a trek into the stadium just in time for kick off. Girls wear their cutest sundresses (mine is always black and gold!) and boys wear their Vandy ties and boat shoes.

I really admire James Franklin for trying to instill a sense of pride in Vanderbilt football. Based on the showing at yesterday’s game and pre-game festivities, it’s looking good.

GO ‘DORES!
