Guest Lecture at the Curb Center
Feb. 18, 2014—This year, the Communication Studies department moved to the Curb Center. I am not going to lie. When I first heard that my classes were neither going to be on main campus nor on commons, but rather in a totally separate location, I was pretty upset. I had no desire to walk almost a mile each way to and from class. I also feared that I would always be late for lunch plans. But, the new space is definitely worth it. In addition is new classrooms, the Communications office suite actually houses the entire department. There is also a great auditorium where the department can host speakers, which brings me to the point of this post.
The Alexander Technique
Feb. 9, 2014—This semester, I am enrolled in a class through the Blair School of Music. Blair is in the back corner of campus, so before this semester, I had really only been inside the building once or twice. I figured there was no time like my last semester to explore a new facet of campus.
New Classes at the New Rec
Feb. 2, 2014—Part of the reason for my sparse blogging is that I have been spending a lot of time at the Student Rec. Quite frankly, in my previous three and a half years at Vanderbilt, I generally despised going to the rec. I love working out, but the rec was old and smelly, and there were...
The Final 100 Days
Jan. 31, 2014—Well, just like that, January is just about over, and, today marks only 100 days left until graduation. I am in denial, and I would say that most of my friends are right there with me. In honor (mourning) of this special day, the Senior Class Fund, held an entire week of festivities, culminating in...
I went bowling!
Jan. 7, 2014—This past Saturday, my sister and I met up with some of my friends in Birmingham, AL to watch the Commodores take on the University of Houston Cougars at the BBVA Compass Bowl. I had never been to an away game before, although I guess this was technically considered a neutral field. It was the perfect ending to my last football game as a student.
My Winter Break To-Do List
Dec. 14, 2013—Winter Break is literally the best when you are in college. The semester is over and so you have NOTHING academic to do. Now that I have been home for 36 hours, and have slept for about 20 of them, I am ready to rejoin society and start having fun! Here is my to- do list:
The Drive to Miami- Part 2
Dec. 14, 2013—In honor of the one year anniversary of my sister's acceptance to Vanderbilt, she decided to share her thoughts on her first semester of college. In case you have forgotten the story of her decision, click here to refresh your memory.
The Drive to Miami
Dec. 13, 2013—Yesterday was a pretty long day. My sister and I were up at the crack of dawn to drive from Nashville to Miami. We did it all in one day and it took us just over 13 hours. I picked her up from Commons and we were able to use her breakfast meal to get coffee and muffins for breakfast.
Vanderbilt Football Bowl Announcement Party
Dec. 10, 2013—This Sunday night, my sister, some friends and I took a study break to ANCHOR DOWN at the bowl announcement party. This event, which has become an annual tradition, celebrates the accomplishments of the football team and announces where the Commodores will play their bowl game. Vice Chancellor Williams, Chancellor Zeppos and Coach Franklin spoke...
A Holiday Party
Dec. 9, 2013—As seniors, my friends and I are trying to fit a lot of fun in the little time left that we have at Vanderbilt. Therefore, despite the copious amounts of papers and exams that we all have this week, we decided to take a break and celebrate. We celebrated the holidays, the end of our last fall semester, and my friend's birthday.
