More Nashville Adventures!

Aug. 19, 2012—Well readers, I'm officially moved in, my mom has left, and I've moved in a whole bunch of first years along with some friends. 2 out of my other 3 Chaffin-mates have moved in (stay tuned for a tour), and I'm starting to feel nice and settled here at Vandy. I cannot believe school starts in a few days, so instead of touching on that, I'm going to tell you about a few more adventures my mom and I had before she left!

Aug. 10, 2012—I promised a part two, and I’d hate to disappoint. Here are more tips for making your home away from home feel like home (Ann pulls off 3 homes in one sentence a little better than I do…): 1. Customize something plain. Cover a bulletin board in fabric, paint old picture frames, or make a plain...

Project Redecoration

Aug. 1, 2012—You might be wondering what I've been doing with my time when not teaching SAT prep or reading. Well, this summer my parents decided to take on the project of redecorating our house. What started with just painting the living room and getting rid of our old couch soon turned into including the kitchen, hallway, and my room--aka, pretty much the entirety of our condo.

What I’ve Been Reading…

Jul. 26, 2012—Yet another list post awaits you! You've gotten a glimpse of fellow blogger Ashlin Philip's readings this summer, so I figured I'd share with you some what I've been reading this summer. Although I am an English major and self-professed bibliophile, I promise this list is not loaded with any dense classics. In fact, I think you'll find it quite enjoyable and filled with fun summer reads--many of the books were recommended by another fellow blogger, Caitlyn.

Goodbye Currey, Hello Chaffin

Jul. 23, 2012—You might remember this post on living in Kissam Quad. Well, Kissam Quad now looks a little like this so unless you are reading this post a year or so into the future, you can see why I will no longer be living there. However, this is nothing to mourn over because while I will...

Reliving the SATs

Jul. 8, 2012—If you're reading this as a potential Vanderbilt student (or as an admitted one), you know the woes of SAT and ACT prep. You know about sitting for several hours in cold rooms to take the tests that help determine your future college. This summer, I've taken the time to re-live these standardized tests--and I'm actually enjoying it.

Commencement: The Participant’s Perspective

Jun. 25, 2012—(You've gotten my perspective of the Commencement experience--now see it through the graduate's eyes. The following post is written by my very good friend Stephen Hollabaugh [see picture below], a recent graduate of the Vanderbilt Class of 2012.)

Commencement: The Observer’s Perspective

Jun. 3, 2012—It's the culmination of four years of blood, sweat, and tears. The moment your entire college career comes to. The few second in which you receive that much desired diploma and are congratulated by an entire university. It is thankfully something I still have two years before I participate in. It is something I had the pleasure of observing this year. It is...Vanderbilt Commencement.
