Wrapping Up Freshman Year
Apr. 10, 2017—Hello everybody! As April has begun and May is fast approaching, so is the end of this year. Soon I’ll become a sophomore and next fall I will arrive to help move in and orient new freshman to Vanderbilt as a VUceptor. Time has absolutely flown. While I could tell you all about my possible plans...
MCAT studying… YIKES.
Mar. 14, 2017—Studying for the MCAT is not fun, but there have been some good moments this semester!
Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
Mar. 3, 2017—Pre-med, pre-law, pre-dent…the list goes on, especially in the healthcare industry. Chances are, you’ll either meet someone who’ll follow the “pre-__” track or you’ll follow one yourself. I certainly did: I was pre-med. Whenever someone advises you that college is a time to grow, they’re not lying. But you have to be ready: growth can...
What’s it like to be pre-med at Vandy?
Mar. 2, 2017—Most incoming students are premed, but a lot of them don't really know what they're getting into, what it's really like, or if it's even worth it? I would have really appreciated talking to someone currently going through it back when I was deciding what I wanted to do with my life, so I sent around a questionnaire to a few of my friends and this is what they had to say. “I was terrified:” The Weeks Before Move-In Day
Jul. 27, 2016—“Guys?” I looked around the patio table outside the frozen yogurt place. My yogurt hadn’t melted yet; the terrible heat of June had left Dallas. It was August, two weeks away from Move-In Day. “What?” Kristin and Alicia looked at me between bites of their cones. “Is this just me… or are y’all scared for college too?” Kristin and Alicia, two of my best friends since fifth grade, looked at each other and then looked at me. “Oh my gosh, Sophie, we’re terrified.” And then all of us started laughing.

Dear High School Senior Sophie…
Mar. 8, 2016—Hey, dear. Now, take a few deep breaths and look up from that AP Physics C book for now. You’ll do well on the exam, I promise. We need to talk.
My (Real) Vanderbilt Experience: It’s a Success (Sort of)
Mar. 7, 2016—It’s 2:00 AM and I’m at Stevenson Library. On my right are five research papers, newly printed and stapled. On my left is my planner, covered in writing. My head’s buzzing with all the stuff I have to do and I’m trying to keep everything under control. And one thought above all: College is so much harder than I thought it was.
Something’s Changed: Coming Back to Vandy, January 2016
Mar. 7, 2016—After a changed flight number and an hour-and-a-half delay, I’m finally headed back to Vanderbilt!!! I’m so excited to go back and have a huge salad from the salad bar, or maybe a veggie burger with Tabasco, or maybe even a bowl of rice. Or actually, maybe everything. After all, I have five new flex meals… ;)
