Not My Parents’ Last Parents Weekend
Oct. 2, 2013—My parents came to parents weekend my first year at Vanderbilt, but they have not been to parents weekend since. Honestly, parents weekend is more crowded and busy than most, so my parents try and come when things are calmer (and they can hang out with all of my friends). This year, however, they decided to brave the crowds as it was my sister's first parents weekend.
Nosebleeds aren’t that bad
Oct. 1, 2013—This past Sunday, I went to the Tennessee Titans football game and I was sitting up in the section commonly referred to as the "nosebleed seats." Here is an account of my experiences sitting in the heavens.
The First VUT Play of the Season
Sep. 26, 2013—Tonight, I attended opening night of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead performed by Vanderbilt University Theater. I try to go to as many plays as I can but I made a special effort to attend this one for two reasons. First, later in this semester, I will be reading the play in one of my classes. Second, two of the actors in the play are in that same class.
Free Flu Shots!
Sep. 25, 2013—Today was Vanderbilt's annual Flulapalooza, a huge campaign through which all Vanderbilt students, faculty and staff are invited (encouraged, actually) to get a free flu shot. The campaign started three years ago, and last year we broke the world record for most flu shots given in a single-day campaign.
How Do I Know?
Sep. 21, 2013—Answering the real question at the root of my family's inquiries: how do I know that I'm in the right place here at Vandy?
My 09/11 weekend of service!
Sep. 20, 2013—I’ve been at Vanderbilt for about a month now, and things are going from good to great to incredibly awesome! I’ve been enjoying my time juggling two majors and a social life, and after a month at Vandy, it was time to give back to the community! In the memory of all the people we lost...
Reasons I am Excited for Fall
Sep. 17, 2013—In light of the recent media buzz surrounding the coming of fall (most clearly marked by the pumpkin spice latte coming back), I figured I’d share some of the reasons why I personally am excited for fall here at Vanderbilt. After all, being from Florida, this is really only the fourth year I’ve lived in...
Home for the Holiday
Sep. 17, 2013—This year, for the first time, I was able to go home for Yom Kippur, which is the holiest day of the Jewish year. I do love Vanderbilt Hillel and the Jewish community on campus, but because the holiday was on Saturday and the Commodores were in South Carolina, I decided to take a quick trip to Miami Beach and see my family.
Friday I’m In Love
Sep. 15, 2013—Who said Friday the 13th is automatically a terrible day? Whoever it was, I have proved them wrong and avoided the supposedly inevitable bad luck.
