‘off campus’
O Food, Where Art Thou?
Aug. 28, 2012—Bacon-wrapped teriyaki chicken, veggie kabobs marinated in lemon and basil, red velvet cake, and Oreo balls, ice cream chocolate chip cookies?! If you are ever hankering to cook your own meal, whip up a dessert, or throw a party, here's a list of places where you can buy your ingredients.
Visiting Vandy
Aug. 22, 2012—My friend Deanna called me on the way to class this morning because she realized it was the first science class she’s taken without me in over a year. Luckily, our separation anxiety will be put on hold this weekend when I drive to Vandy to see everyone!
“If I knew then what I know now…”
Aug. 20, 2012—Today, I partook in a first-year orientation panel themed “If I knew then what I know now…” Dr. Karen Campell, one of the Deans of Undergraduate Education invited several upperclassmen to give 1-2 suggestions to the first-years and then participate in a Q&A session.
Good Eats Part 2
Aug. 15, 2012—We all know I like to eat, and since I’ve already written about my favorite places on campus, today I’m going to write about my favorite restaurants off-campus. Most of these are within walking distance of campus and are great places to stop by with the fam (like the night before Move-In Day!).
First-Year FAQs
Aug. 14, 2012—Today I grabbed coffee with a girl from my high school who’s coming to Vandy (I can’t believe Move-In Day is SATURDAY!). I tried to answer any questions she had and I figured some excited first-years out there might be curious about them too:
Home at Last!
Aug. 8, 2012—I made it back to the USA. I’m safe and sound, but missing Peru terribly. By completely immersing myself into Peruvian culture, I learned so much about family, healthcare, and about myself. And now, I finally have some pictures to prove it!
Long Time, No Blog: End of the Summer Round Up!
Aug. 6, 2012—Well, it isn’t the end yet. Summer 2012 has been my most productive (that is, I haven’t sat around on my couch quite as much according to my mother). Without boring you with the details, I’d like to quickly glance back at my summer and look ahead to the coming semester!
I’m Still in Peru, and Loving It!
Jul. 31, 2012—Hello again from Lima! This weekend was my last in Peru, as I return home this Friday night. This weekend, we celebrated Peruvian independence day and a small group of us volunteers decided to travel down to the Peruvian desert oasis called Huacachina.
What I’ve Been Reading…
Jul. 26, 2012—Yet another list post awaits you! You've gotten a glimpse of fellow blogger Ashlin Philip's readings this summer, so I figured I'd share with you some what I've been reading this summer. Although I am an English major and self-professed bibliophile, I promise this list is not loaded with any dense classics. In fact, I think you'll find it quite enjoyable and filled with fun summer reads--many of the books were recommended by another fellow blogger, Caitlyn.
