My 4 Sides of Greek Life

Jan. 31, 2011—A few weeks ago Erica and Eileen gave you a good idea of what the decision to go Greek or not is like for a freshman at Vanderbilt. However, as a senior who has literally been on all sides of the system, I thought I would share some my experiences with you also. Read on...

Laundry

Jan. 31, 2011—I haven’t posted in a few days, so I figured I should take a moment to update you on my life. I don’t really have any exciting weekend stories to share. I spent my Saturday enjoying the BEAUTIFUL weather and playing frisbee on Peabody lawn. Most of Sunday, I worked on my first speech for...

Laser tag, cardboard igloos, and blueberry pancakes.

Jan. 30, 2011—Friday nights are probably my favorite time of the week in college. Classes are finished, but it’s still too early to need to worry about homework for Monday. This week I had been looking forward to Friday night because of the prospect of laser tag. I went with the youth group from Rolling Hills Community...

Jan. 26, 2011—Vanderbilt's got a new anthem. First-year student (and Vanderbilt Melodore) Nick Wells remixed and remade the recent Whiz Kalifa hit "Black and Yellow" into what I predict will be a Vandy classic: "Black and Gold."

Let it snow!

Jan. 25, 2011—As a Florida girl, I don’t have much experience with snow. I’d seen it a few times before coming to Vanderbilt, but this year has been the first time I’ve lived in it. And I love it. Every time I see those flakes cover campus in a soft white blanket, I have to go outside....

Poetry, out loud.

Jan. 25, 2011—Last Thursday, I was able to attend Jericho Brown’s reading at the Black Cultural Center here on Vanderbilt campus. The Vanderbilt Creative Writing program hosts Gertrude & Harold Vanderbilt Visiting Writers Series where different poetry and fiction authors come read and do a Q&A for those who attend the reading. The awesome thing about these...

Cafe Coco and “The Card”

Jan. 23, 2011—Last night, my friends and I were pretty bored and hungry. We spent the day hanging out in our dorm because it was cold and gray outside. Sometimes, after a long week, the best way to spend a Saturday is to relax and bond with the girls. We didn’t want to go to the dining...
