Laser tag, cardboard igloos, and blueberry pancakes.

Friday nights are probably my favorite time of the week in college. Classes are finished, but it’s still too early to need to worry about homework for Monday. This week I had been looking forward to Friday night because of the prospect of laser tag. I went with the youth group from Rolling Hills Community Church to Laser Quest, in downtown Nashville. Laser Quest is some of the intense-est laser tag I have ever played—they have layers of twists and turns and the entire arena is black lit, with fog and epic music in the background.  Though I may not have excelled overall, it was tons of fun and it was nice to leave campus for a bit and see some of beautiful downtown Nashville.

After Laser Quest and some delicious froyo from Sweet CeCe’s, I went back with some friends to the BCM (Baptist Collegiate Ministry). The BCM is one of my favorite places on campus, and a group I’ve been an active part of since I came here. The building is pretty much always open to study or hang out, and every Thursday night there is a worship service and Bible study there called “The Point”. I’ve made a lot of awesome friends through the BCM, and Friday night a bunch of us got together to build an epic cardboard igloo and make blueberry pancakes for National Blueberry Pancake Day (it exists!).

College is full of spontaneity and community, and a Friday night full of random and fun activities was a splendid way to combine them. The friends I’ve made at Vanderbilt are friends that I will definitely stay in touch with for the rest of my life, and I’ve been so blessed to find an amazing assortment of people here.
