A Return to Ferguson
Dec. 20, 2014—"I was drawn to do things that were romantic but could also have a rationale to them," Hayden says. "Romantic in the sense that I think it is noble to stand up against an evil, and that we don't get many opportunities in the normal course of life to do anything that's noble at all. But without a purpose or plan or strategy, it would be self-serving or foolish." He pauses, reflects. "To what extent it was a rationalization as opposed to rational is another question. It was probably sometimes a rationalization." - Tom Hayden, anti-war activist
My Experiences with Ferguson
Dec. 20, 2014—My posts are usually fun and lighthearted; however, this one will be a more serious and addresses an issue very near and dear to me. This semester I got heavily involved with Ferguson and would like to share my experiences as both a student on campus and as a protester.
Fast Times at McGill High (Numero Dos)
Dec. 20, 2014—The most stereotypically McGill-esque events have been the three coffeehouses/open mic nights this semester. During these marathons of outlets of unrestrained creative expression that last from 7 pm to well past midnight, the real McGill comes out.
Fast Times at McGill High
Dec. 19, 2014—I want to share with y'all the love for my home, the unique McGill House. I shall give example after example of the crazy awesome shenanigans that I have personally experienced throughout the semester. The hope is, if any of y’all resonate with what is written, that you come check out my humble abode!
Just Another Manic Monday
Dec. 19, 2014—Experience the exciting conclusion to a day of the week that is mondane but certainly not mundane!
Monday Monday so Good to Me
Dec. 19, 2014—Mondays: you either hate them or you really hate them. Just like gender and sexuality, I don’t believe in such a polarizing angsty Monday-themed binary. For me and “The Mamas and the Papas”, Monday is “so good to me” and “all I hoped it would be”. To redeem Monday’s status, let’s go on a journey chronicling a (Mon)day in the life of one Jose Palmer.
A Weekend to End All Weekends (Part II)
Dec. 19, 2014—It is now Saturday. I wake up naturally at the absolutely wondrous time of noon to light gently pouring through my fourth-story windows, filtered by some positively green trees. Life is good.
A Weekend to End All Weekends
Oct. 21, 2014—A prominent 20th century philosopher once said, "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get". It's also pretty sweet. This weekend, though extraordinary, was not out of the ordinary. Every weekend takes me along for an unexpected ride, one that always manages to showcase many of the diverse facets of Vandy life. Join me as we experience the sights and sounds that this one particular trip took me through.
