A Vacation in the Sunshine State
Numerous families make beach trips during the summer. My family is not one of them. We are definitely a family that prefers the mountain scene over the beach. Cold over hot. Foliage over sand. However, with the desire to do something as a family before I head to Nashville and my sister begins her Master’s in Public Health at Boston University this Fall, a relaxing weekend trip was in order, so we headed down to Panama City Beach, Florida for a few days!
We got a really great deal on a condo right by the beach and had a great time playing frisbee by the shoreline, sitting by the ocean, listening to the waves crash onto the shore, and hanging out by the pool. We were blessed with really great weather this weekend! While it did rain a bit, it basically cooled down the previously steaming hot weather and cleared out after a while!
In addition to it being our first beach trip to Florida, it was also my first oyster experience! We ate at The Back Porch for lunch on our first day there. While I was quick to try the oysters, I was also quick to say that one was enough. Not my favorite of sea foods.
Day two was filled with more relaxation and food. We took family pictures that evening and ended the day watching fellow vacationers set off fireworks on the beach and watching a movie before going to sleep.
Day three was leaving day, but not before we headed to the beach and pool that morning and then made the impromptu decision that we just couldn’t leave without jet skiing–another first for me! Obviously it was an amazing experience and an ideal way to end our beach vacation. While I am still more of a mountain girl, the beach IS a nice place to visit :)
