Kickboxing!

Posted by on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 in College Life, Extracurriculars, Student Life.

In light of this new semester, I’ve been trying to exercise more (big emphasis on trying). I’m not particularly a fan of working out, so I like to find ways of exercising which are actually fun as well. I love swimming at the Rec, but I generally don’t have enough time to set aside for a good swim, so recently I’ve picked up a new hobby–kickboxing!

The Rec has a variety of classes–you may remember I once posted about yoga–and they’re all free to Vanderbilt students. Kickboxing is only an hour and there are also classes that last for just half an hour too–perfect for when you don’t have a ton of time but still want to get in some activity.

February classes at the Rec. Note how I cleverly left kickboxing in focus since it's the class I'm talking about.

Between school and work I do a lot of sitting, so kickboxing is a nice way to get up and get moving as well as release some stress. There’s nothing like taking out any anger you may have mid-week by punching the air! All the classes at the Rec are at a level such that it’s totally fine if you’re a beginner–I had never tried a kickboxing class in my life before this semester. Just one of many new things I’ve tried out here at Vandy!
