Big Brothers Big Sisters
I now have a little sister! Not biologically speaking, but through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee.
Over the summer, I filled out the application to join BBBS and set up an interview for when I got back. I applied to this program because I wanted to get more involved in the Nashville area and I knew that I could balance it better with classes this year, since I’ve worked out my college study habits by now. Also, BBBS requires you to spend one hour with your little every week, ideally for at least a year, and that consistency appealed to me.
But back to the fun part: at the end of my interview, I described my perfect little brother or sister so that BBBS could get the best match, although they said it might take a few weeks to find the right person. The day of my acceptance to the program, I got a call from the site-based specialist saying she had already found a match for me! I actually met her two days ago and could not be more excited. Her name is Liz and we’re both talkative, animated, and love Justin Bieber! It’s the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
