The End of an Era
Last Night, our Intramural Team played in our last game of the season and called an end to a great intramural season as we said goodbye to our graduating seniors.
To most, Intramural sports is just an extracurricular activity that they partake in if they have time during their busy Vanderbilt schedule. BUT, to our team: FSA, intramural sports is a lifestyle. It holds the highest priority in our lives. When we know we have a game coming up, whether it be Flag Football, Volleyball, Softball or Soccer, we drop everything and partake in the activity. To us, intramural is not an extracurricular activity, school is the extracurricular activity.
As you can see, intramurals is serious business. A lot of people partake in intramural sports and groups of people will get together and form a team to partake in the league. For Example, our team FSA which stands for the Future Saints of America consist of mainly Catholics from University Catholic. Intramurals is a great way to get to know people better outside of a classroom setting. Its great to be able to blow off steam from the stress of schoolwork and go out there onto the field and de-stress over a fun game of soccer. Look at all the options we have!
Last night was our last night for the season. We were deep in the playoffs for Co-Ed Soccer but we bowed out of the tournament with a 2-1 loss in the Semi-finals. I was proud of how we played and we were unlucky to come out of the game with a better result. But, we move on and there is always next year. Unfortunately, we say goodbye to our seniors who will be graduating. They were a pivotal part in building up this team and bringing the success we have seen over the ages. It was a lot of fun over the ages but as they say, all good things must come to an end.
