Nosebleeds aren’t that bad

Now, if you don’t know by now, I’m a huge fan of football. I love our ‘Dores and I love my Titans. After a spectacular performance Saturday night against the University of Alabama (at Birmingham), I needed even more football to watch. So, what better than to go watch my Tennessee Titans stomp on the circus-show that is the New York Jets.

The next morning, I woke up and went on StubHub to go buy tickets to the game. If you didn’t know, StubHub is a great, cheap place to buy tickets online for shows/games especially if you buy a couple hours before the actual event as most vendors will be trying to get rid of the tickets. And so, I was able to buy two tickets for $13 each located high up in the nosebleed section (the third level). I went with my roommate from Freshmen year who is from New Jersey and calls himself a Jets fan.

The game kicked off at 3:30pm so we left Vanderbilt at around 2:30pm on a Metro bus since all Vanderbilt students get free access to the bus system. It’s very handy especially for going downtown.

From the bus stop we walked over to LP field over the Cumberland River and found our seats up in the stands. The game kicked off and it was a fairly exciting, close game until about half way during the second quarter when the Titans decided it was about time to stop messing around and took a 17-3 lead. The half ended at 24-6 with the Titans defense shutting down the Jet’s mediocre rookie quarterback.

Despite the Jets taking out future franchise superstar quarterback Jake Locker after a controversial (dirty and late) hit, the Titans were still able to pile on the misery for the poor Jets. The final score ended 38-18 with a 77 yard pass from Ryan Fitzmagic and the Jets were sent home with their hopes and dreams crushed.

It was a great feeling to come out of that stadium with the win but it was even better to find out that Jake Locker’s injury was only a hip strain and he should be back by the end of the month.

To the SUPERBOWL we go
