*Cough Cough*

Friday night we closed our production of Brecht’s Good Person of Sezuan and struck the set until 1am.  Immediately the following day, I fell into deep sickness.  For me, being sick at college is always one of the saddest moments because I start to miss home terribly.  I think back on all the times my mom brought me vanilla caramel tea and toast with butter as I watched TV on the couch.  Now, I have to be self-sufficient while feeling awful.

This is the care package they made me :)

Luckily, the people surrounding me were incredibly helpful.  My professors understood that I needed to stay in bed for two whole days and do virtually nothing but sleep.  As such, they extended most of my deadlines which enabled me to get almost completely better by the time school started again today.  Additionally, my boyfriend brought me a care package to help me through, including tea, hot chocolate, cold medicine, and a plethora of different-flavored cough drops.  Student health was also very helpful with my simultaneous ear infection—they gave me antibiotics and anti-decongestants.  I’ve never left student health without the exact amount of aid I needed.  Even the ladies at Quizno’s helped me out by giving me soup to feel better.

All in all, being sick at college sucks, but it is totally manageable when you have lovely people helping you along the way.  Plus, spring break is next week, which gives me something to look forward to! :)

…Until next time!
