Time for a break!
This has been, by far, one of my busiest semesters here at Vandy, but I love everything I’m involved in too much to complain. Whether it be my classes (with the exception of Physics, most days), my job, my research, my friends, my clubs, it is so worth being the busy bee that I am.
However, a break from the wonderful madness is always a good thing, and I was able to do just that when I went to the BCM Fall Retreat two weekends ago and Cru Fall Getaway this past weekend! Both events were stuffed with time spent with friends, flawless weather, and fun in the sun–mostly volleyball for me :) It was such a blast to break out from the Vandy Bubble and truly relax with some awesome people.
And while these breaks definitely helped make the busy work weeks go by faster, I am very much looking forward to a vacation that commences mere hours from now. At noon, following my last class, I’ll be riding a free shuttle to the airport, sponsored by Vanderbilt Student Government, in order to take a bus to Chattanooga, where I will spend time with my family and eat an excessive amount of home cooked food until I leave the following morning to head to the Atlanta airport where I get on a plane that takes me to (insert jubilant music here) Boston to visit my sister!!!!!! I’m only a little excited…
As I’ve mentioned before, my sister began her Master’s program at Boston University this fall, and ever since she decided on Boston, a visit from yours truly instantly became inevitable. This is a trip that has been in the works for a while, but I finally bought my tickets on Monday and figured out the logistics that allow me to see all of my family members at a decent price! Plane fares are no joke these days :/
And that is why I am up at 5 am. I just finished up some assignments that I do not want to take with me and am about to pack up, because when I leave for classes in the morning, I’ll be homeward bound shortly thereafter. Go figure that even time built into the school calendar to relax is busy for me, but I literally would not have it any other way.
Yes, the first wave of tests is over, as is half of the semester, and how do I commemorate? Well, I think I’ll go to Boston :)
