Last Semester of Undergrad!
I cannot believe it’s my last semester at Vandy! Many people usually have a pretty free second semester as a senior, but I still have a packed schedule. As a Music Performance Major, there are many requirements I have to fulfill every semester, which limits the number of classes I can take outside of music (for some music major requirements, I can’t just take one class for a semester and satisfy a requirement; it’s an ongoing requirement throughout all 8 semesters). With an added French minor and other interests, every semester has been busy even though I finished the majority of Blair core classes my freshman and sophomore years. (That’s ok though, I like keeping myself busy :) see my previous post for more details on the Blair core). Without further ado, here is my schedule for my last semester at Vandy!
For my last semester, I am continuing to take the second part of Chinese and two French classes to finish up my minor: Popular Music and Social Change in France and the Francophone World and French & Francophone Cinema. I’m especially excited for these two classes as they both combine my passions for French, music, and social studies all in one! For my music major requirements, I am taking conducting, orchestra (for our large ensemble requirement), and for chamber music, I am playing Felix Mendelssohn’s esteemed String Octet. I also still have weekly private lessons and studio class.
Outside of class, I will still be involved in Vanderbilt Music Outreach, an organization that provides music education for children and I will still be ‘gigging’ around Vandy and Nashville. I’m excited to continue both activities as I love sharing music with my community. As I mentioned in my previous post, I’ll also be dancing in my fourth and final Lunar New Year Festival in February (stay tuned!).
