Vandy’s Got Talent
So in case you haven’t heard yet, Vanderbilt is home to students with UNBOUNDED TALENT. One incredible thing about our students is the amount of performing arts talent they have. Not trying to brag or anything, but we are home to the first collegiate a cappella group to EVER win NBC’s Sing Off as of last night—The Melodores.
Beyond that group, we have several other fabulous a cappella groups, some insanely wonderful choir groups, theater groups, dance groups and so on. These performances are usually free or like $5, which usually goes towards recording or reservation costs, and they are so worth it. I try to go to as many as possible, partially because they are mind-bogglingly great and partially because I usually have at least one friend performing.
That’s the great thing about Vandy–the amount of support we give our community is literally awesome. Honestly, I almost cried last night when the Melodores won, not just because they were phenomenal but also because ALL OF SOCIAL MEDIA was taken over by the Vanderbilt community coming together. #MeloLove and #Meldores were trending on twitter all night, and the actual Vandy community was a large part of that. So if you have any talents you can’t wait to showcase to the Vandy community or if, like me, you would prefer to watch while your friends amaze you with their talent, Vandy’s got talent.
