Thanksgiving Shenanigans

Posted by on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 in College Life, Family, Thanksgiving Break, Traditions.

Hello friends and Happy Thanksgiving (a little late, but at Vandy it’s always a good time to be thankful)!

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday filled with delicious food and family bonding. This Thanksgiving was especially exciting for me since it was the first time I have been home since coming to college. Here’s a peak into some of my Thanksgiving shenanigans:

  • Flying Solo

Thanksgiving Break was my first time flying by myself. Luckily, my friend Katherine was flying home at the same time and joined me in my airport adventures. I love seeing all of my Vandy friends at the airport; it’s both exciting and comforting.

  • Christmas Decorating

Since I would be back at school when my family usually starts decorating, my mom decided we should just move our holiday preparations up a little bit. By the time Thanksgiving day came around, our house was adorned with four Christmas trees (we did not even use all of our ornaments), two nativity scenes, garland, lights, and wreaths. We go all out in the Grys household.

Two of our four trees!
  • Snow

Bethlehem, Pennsylvania had a white Thanksgiving this year! On Sunday, we got about six inches of snow, which meant Turkey Day was both beautiful and cold.

  • Family Fun

Spending time with my family was a major part of my break. While I was away, my parents and little sister all became addicted to the television show Reign so I had to get caught up! I also enjoyed being driven around everywhere by my lovely little sister Meghan.

Thanksgiving was a wonderful break and definitely necessary to recharge my batteries before finals. This next week will be crazy and challenging, but I have the image of Christmas trees in my head and the promise of more Reign when I go home to get me through.

Much love,

Gabi
