Bouncing Back
After a heart breaking loss at Dudley Stadium, I’ve finally been able to get myself together to talk about the night and reflect on the positives.
If you didn’t know, Vanderbilt kicked off their football season last Thursday against the Ole Miss Rebels. It was an important game and it came right down to the wire. Apart from the result of the game itself, it was such a great night to be back in the stands under the lights watching some good old football. Kickoff for the game was at 8:15 pm. But, to get the best seats in the heart of the student section, my friends and I arrived at the stadium at 6 pm. Little did we know, the game would last 4 hours. But, as a dedicated fan, I stayed for the entire 6 hours at the stadium.
By 7 pm, people were flooding in and the stadium was getting packed to the brim. The atmosphere was buzzing. It was so great to see our stadium completely filled and you could truly see the impact that James Franklin has had on the football team and the culture surrounding it. It felt like we were a real football team and not just another team of the SEC. As long as we continue our winning ways, we will be sure to rise in the ranks.
The team looked very good in our season opener especially our offense as Austyn Carta-Samuels was hitting his throws to our star man, Jordan Matthews, who despite suffering cramps and throwing up on the field, chose to get back on the field to help the team out. With that performance, he has proven his worth and has entered my personal list of people I want to meet. Others on this list include Taylor Swift and Emma Watson.
The next game is on Saturday night against the Austin Peay Governors. It will be a great opportunity for the team to build some confidence before heading into Columbia to play South Carolina. James Franklin has announced the theme as: Bold & Gold. So, wear your gold.
P.S. I have just made the best decision in my life, I will now be receiving every James Franklin tweet via text.
