Friendsies
I got a call about 2 weeks ago from a good friend of mine. “Hey Rache…you free in two weeks?” An by a spontaneous twist of events I was Nashville hostess for her and her fiancé last weekend. We’ve known each other for about 12 years now and it a nice game to play catchup. It’s an eerie feeling having someone you have been friends with for such a long time visit you at university. I know I am a junior now, but its still hard to shake the notion that I have grown up!
Our conversation took us down memory lane; laughing and reminiscing, we forgot about our fro-yo and it slowly melted in our paper cups. It was so lovely to see her this summer since it has been such a whirlwind of events! I have been busying myself with volunteering, my internship, classes, and studying for the GRE. Wowch! I promise that is not a complaint, I love a full schedule.
Apparently, it’s not right to come to Nashville and miss the music scene, so her fiancé and my brother went to the Ricky Skaggs concert. We, on the other hand, hit the food scene and grabbed some nom noms at Las Paletas and Pancake Pantry. Trying to balance it out, we rented out the B-cycles from the stations around Nashville and went on a bike ride around 12th South Avenue past Sevier Park. I know they tell you that you never forget to ride a bicycle…but the poor pedestrians we almost crashed into would beg to differ! After almost debilitating laughter, we managed to collect ourselves and continue on our adventure. Eventually, it was a breeze…literally…the wind knotting my hair and billowing my shirt to air balloon-ish proportions. May we never grow old…
