Weekend One
Victoria and I (as well as some of our friends) have a goal this summer–to do at least one new thing every single weekend this summer. We have a fairly impressive Google doc going, with a long list of free/inexpensive things to do around Nashville, and it’s a very real possibility that the things we don’t get around to this summer will morph into our senior year (gulp) bucket list. In our research, we’ve found that Nashville has an extraordinary number of free events each summer–from dancing each Saturday night in Centennial Park to outdoor movies at the Belcourt to concerts in the park, there’s really something for everyone.
To kick off our weekend adventures, this past Saturday night Victoria and I joined some of our friends at the Belcourt movie theater for an outdoor screening of the 1989 Batman! There was a Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams truck selling–what else–ice cream, as well as a concession stand with more typical movie snacks. We didn’t partake in the snacks this time around, but let me tell you, it was difficult to resist. Before the movie got going, they played old commercials and an older, short episode of Batman as it got dark. I’ll admit it–once the movie got going I got super tired and may or may not have curled up into a ball and fallen asleep for part of the movie. Oops. But the parts that I saw were good! I blame my exhaustion on getting up at 6:45 in the morning every day the week before–but I’m happy to say that I’m now more used to the early wake up call, and I have way more energy than I did last week! Even though I fell asleep, the movie at the Belcourt was a lot of fun, and we’ll definitely go back next month!
