Back in the Nash
After a relaxing month in Naples, I was ready to get back into the swing of something–and that something happens to be Nashville! This is the first summer I’ve gone back to the city, and I’m so excited to share with you all what I’m doing while here!
First off, as Caitlyn mentioned, we’re roomies in a real-person apartment for the summer. We’ve done some unpacking, killed some bugs (eek), and have definitely made it feel more like home. Working 8:30-5 and making all your own meals is tough work! But I definitely feel a little more confident in my future abilities to survive in the real world. It’s also gotten incredibly toasty here in Nashville (topping out at a lovely 95 degrees today), so we’ve supplemented our biking with a recently-developed mastery of the Nashville bus system.
Secondly, you’re probably wondering exactly why I’m here in Nashville. As I mentioned long ago, like Caitlyn, I’m working in the Vanderbilt Office of Undergraduate Admissions (OUA). I’m getting to help a lot with the marketing and publications side of admissions, so it’s been really awesome to go behind the scenes and learn more about that area of admissions. Like Caitlyn said–if you’re visiting this summer, maybe we’ll see you!
Originally, I thought I’d be at admissions every day during the summer–but about two weeks before I left for Vandy, I heard back from an internship I applied for last minute at an ad agency called redpepper. I’m a Marketing and Research Intern and I’m at the office every Tuesday and Thursday–and let me tell you, it is an incredibly awesome place to be at. Future posts are coming soon with more details on that.
This segment of summer is already off to a busy but fantastic start–and it’s only up from here! But don’t worry, I’ll be sure to fill you in every step of the way.
