Adventures of a Tuesday Night

Here is how much Dexy loves her Coffee Mate!

Last week, Dexy and I decided to go to Target to pick up a few things we needed.  We eat oats by the bucketful (overnight oats are my absolute favorite!!) and so we obviously finished all of the ones my mom and I bought during family weekend.  We had absolutely no idea how the night would unfold.

Since Dexy and I are both international students, neither of us have quite yet acclimated to the joys of holiday-themed cheap and long-lasting American food products.  All of freshman year we had way too much food (who eats three meals a day? ;D) and no car to get us to grocery stores.  As such, we wandered the store, squealing, twirling, and exclaiming as you typically do when grocery shopping on a Tuesday night.  Of course the entire time we were being stared at by all the “normal” shoppers who probably thought we were mentally insane.  One of my favorite moments was when Dexy grabbed an armful of almond milk cartons (three large ones in total) excitedly, exclaiming: “we need to stock up!”  She then waddled over to me and dumped them in on top of our already-full shopping cart.  The best spontaneous item we bought I have since realized were the different-flavored holiday Coffee Mates.  Since then, I have totally made coffee every morning just so that I could use my delicious pumpkin pie Coffee Mate.  Dexy has done the exact same thing with her peppermint mocha flavor.

Needless to say, we spent WAY too much money and need to adjust to the fact that we can drive to Target whenever we want and/or need.  But it was totally worth it just for the experience.  We drove out of the parking lot, blasting Taylor Swift’s “We are never getting back together” in typical Nashville-college-student fashion.  The picture of contented international college students. :)  However, it soon became apparent that we had missed our turn onto West End to head out to Loveless to pick up Dexy’s scarf (she had left it there the week prior when we were celebrating my birthday).  That was the beginning of our true adventure…to read the rest of  our epic tale, click here.

…Until next time!
