Home Sweet Home
Fall break is always very much needed. It usually comes right after midterms and allows students the opportunity to relax before diving into the second half of the semester. This time, however, it was much needed for another reason: as a break from job applications. I’ve been spending the past couple weeks obsessively applying for jobs (putting a major damper on my senior year bucket list). However, I am determined for this break to actually be just that, a break. So, as much as it pains the email addict in me, I am trying my best to disconnect from my school and post-graduation life for a couple of days.
In order to get over my email addiction, however, I have been trying to keep “busy” these past few days. Well, as busy as anyone wants to be while on a break. Actually, I have been spending a lot of time catching up on much-needed sleep. When not sleeping, I have been trying to spend as much time with my parents as possible. Even though I frequently have to steer the conversation away from my future, it has been great to see them. Last night, I met my parents downtown after work and we enjoyed exploring the city (well, at least until the cold, Chicago rain got the better of us). Another perk of going home is that I get to hang out with my dog, Indie (see picture). As anyone who knows me can tell you, I am a true canine enthusiast and seeing Indie always brings a smile to my face, no matter how stressed I am.
Many of my friends went to the beach this fall break and, at first, I was rather jealous. But, as I sit here staring at the changing leaves on this crisp fall day in Chicago, canine companion at my side, I can’t think of anywhere I would rather be. Well, at least until Sunday when I can finally check my email again!
