Bid Day ’12!
As I mentioned earlier in the week, Bid Day was yesterday! After a week of recruitment, freshmen (and some sophomores) were finally offered bids from one of the nine panhellenic sororities on campus. They also had the option to drop out of recruitment and try to join the sorority that is coming to Vanderbilt in about a month, Zeta Tau Alpha.
AOII celebrates Bid Day every year at Tin Roof by dancing for hours and eating delicious food. As soon as the “baby pandas” (aka new members) arrived at the venue, they were assigned a “rosebud,” who acts as a temporary big. My little rosebud is hilarious and we actually knew each other before recruitment so we got along great yesterday.
After we wore ourselves out from dancing, we drove back to the AOII house and ate Pinkberry while the seniors performed a funny song to introduce themselves to the new members. Later, some of my friends and I took our rosebuds to Café Coco, which I had actually never been to before. Needless to say, yesterday involved a lot of good food.
My roommate from last year decided to rush this year and ended up at Kappa Kappa Gamma (which Morgan and Hadley are in) and I know she was really excited about it! I think it’s really cool that girls who didn’t rush freshman year are still allowed to change their mind and join a sorority.
Now I need to get ready for Chapter where I can get to know our new members even better!
P.S. Don’t worry, my next blog won’t be sorority-related, haha. I promise I participate in other activities too.
