Magical Opera at Vanderbilt!
Last night was opening night for the Blair School of Music’s performance of Shakespeare’s The Merry Wives of Windsor in Ingram Hall. Good portions of both the voice department and orchestra were involved with making the show the truly spectacular experience that it was; not to mention the brilliance of conductor Robin Fountain and director Dr. Gayle Shay. Above is a very amateur picture taken from my cell phone that doesn’t do the visual appeal of the show any justice. The colors and attention to detail in the set and costuming was so scintillating. My eyes were glued to the stage the entire time.
It was such an entertaining experience being able to watch all of my friends step completely outside themselves and play roles such as: Fairy Queens, Magical Kindred, Mistical Dwellers of the Forest etc. They all really let loose and had a great time performing for the SOLD OUT audience! It truly was a captivating performance seeing all of my friends rise to the occasion, singing, acting, dancing and being comedic in ways that they never have before!
Bravo to everyone in the cast and break a leg during tomorrow’s performance (Sunday at 2pm). The show is completely free (sponsored by a generous anonymous donor) so everybody that is available should go!
