Free Cone Day
This past Tuesday was Free Cone Day at Ben & Jerry’s! Once a year, you can get as many free ice cream cones as times you want to stand in line!
Before coming to Vanderbilt I didn’t even realize that Ben & Jerry’s existed as a physical place–I thought it was just another brand of ice cream. There is a Ben & Jerry’s ice cream shop on 21st Avenue, just a few minutes’ walk from my dorm. Being the lovers of ice cream that we are, Victoria and I were in line for our first free cones of the day before the store even opened at noon. By 12:10 (the line moved super fast) we had our ice cream in hand and proceeded to get right back in line. We didn’t have class till one so we had the time to hop back in line and enjoy our ice cream before we got more!
At one o’clock, Victoria and I parted ways and I went to my Educational Psychology class with my friend Shilpa. While we love the class, we were way excited when our TA let us out twenty-five minutes early–now we had time to get more free ice cream! I tried a new flavor, called Spiced Chocolate, but let me just say it wasn’t my personal favorite–luckily Shilpa let me have a bite of hers! After this third ice cream trip, it was time for me to go to work in the Admissions Office.
Two hours of filing later, I found out my soccer practice was cancelled, so my friend Megan and I got more ice cream before dinner! This time I tried one of the new greek yogurt flavors (an attempt to be healthy…), Peanut Butter and Banana, and it was so good! After dinner I may or may not have gotten my fifth ice cream cone of the day…but I technically only ate four of them! And since Free Cone Day only comes once a year, I figure the splurging is excusable…
Moral of this post: coming to Vanderbilt = close proximity to Free Cone Day. And it’s perfectly okay to go every chance you get.
By the way, my favorite flavors of the day were berry berry extraordinary sorbet and milk and cookies!
