The First Day
A short post that I wrote a while back about my first days at Vanderbilt University.
So, I wrote this post when I applied to be an Inside ‘Dores blogger, so I figured I’d share it with you all so that you have a sense of what it was like on the first day at school.
It all started on November 1st. The deadline for Vanderbilt ED. I submitted my application and the waiting game started. And then, on December 15th I went to my mailbox and there was an envelope inside. Not just any envelope… but a large envelope. I opened it and read the letter accepting me to Vanderbilt. I felt so happy and so relieved that I understood what Harry must have felt like when he was invited to Hogwarts.
The rest of senior year flew by as I was eagerly awaiting August 20th, Move-in Day. Of course, as usual, I was late to my check-in time despite living 20 minutes away from campus. But alas, a nice police officer let us cut in line and all was good. I entered the Vanderbilt Campus and was greeted by the move-in crew who were all more than eager to move all my stuff. Caught up in the moment, I told the crew the wrong room number and was pleasantly surprised to find all my bags in front of the bathroom. But hey, I didn’t have to carry all my stuff up 6 flights of stairs. Anyways, my room key was hand-delivered to me as I had completely forgotten to pick it up. I walked in my room and met my roommate from Jersey for the first time. Needless to say, we get along well.
As I started settling in and meeting new people from all over the country (even a girl from Dubai), I realized I had made the right decision. Vanderbilt felt like home.
So, that was my first day. I’ll talk about why I picked Vanderbilt another time. In the mean time, I’ll be enjoying the few days I have left of Spring Break.
