You Don’t Have to “Go Out” To Have a Good Time on the Weekends

I was able to have an awesome time in the comfort of my own dorm room last night. Just a few months ago, I purchased and set up a small studio rig in my dorm room because of a new found hobby of recording music. The screenshot above shows a mix that I spend the better part of 6 hours tracking and starting to mix vocals. I enjoyed every minute working on “Just the Way You Are,” by Bruno Mars.

I have had a great time (and a conniption or two) over the past few months trying to figure out the functions of digital audio workstation that I use to produce the recordings I make. My knowledge of digital recording has come from a mixture of video tutorials, written articles but mostly – trial and error. I have been trying to eliminate the last method  as best I can, as it is not nearly as efficient or methodical as actually knowing what you are doing…

SO. Just how can I satisfy the desire to get better at my hobby amidst all of my other classes and practice time etc? What better way than to take a class on Computer Recording?! I really STOKED to be getting academic credit to take a class on something that I do for fun in my free time. Next semester cannot come fast enough! Also, I’m really happy how easy it was to get into the classes I want. I told a few Melodore friends of mine about this computer recording class and since it was so easy to get into, we are all taking it together. Details to come!
