An Evening with the Chancellor
Last week for Vanderbilt Visions all of the first-year students attended “An Evening with the Chancellor,” in which each Visions group prepared a few questions to ask Chancellor Zeppos. The questions ranged from professional, to personal, to even pretty random. We learned that if Chancellor Zeppos could have any super power, it would be the ability to always touch the ground when walking in water—almost a leg-growing skill. Also, in the later session, my friend asked the chancellor what animal he would want to be, and the chancellor responded with a whale and proceeded to amuse with a whale call. In addition to the fun questions, Chancellor Zeppos was asked exactly what a chancellor is, which sounds like a leader who proposes plans that most benefit the students, and sees that the plans are acted upon. He told us that he wants to rebuild Kissam before we graduate and that he just wants Vanderbilt to remain a community where our kids or even grandkids would want to one day be a part of. All in all, the event was definitely a success, as I actually learned a lot about Vanderbilt and its plans for the future, in an entertaining way.
