A Day in the Life
I’ve written a few times about what a typical day in my life looks like, so I thought I’d give an updated version of a day in my life now that I’m in my senior year. Each day looks a little different, so I’ll try to paint a picture of what life is like these days from a general perspective.
Mondays through Thursdays, my schedule is pretty consistent. Mondays and Wednesdays, I work my job at the medical center. Tuesdays and Thursdays, I attend my classes (5 classes each day for a loaded class schedule between 9:35 am and 5:15 pm!). Friday through Sunday, I try to spend some time with friends, do things I enjoy like reading and playing guitar, and explore Nashville. With interviews for medical school, I have to miss some days of classes and work (though my teachers and boss are extremely understanding). I also have meetings for organizations like VUcept, LEAPS, and Alternative Spring Break as well as time devoted to my research lab smattered throughout the week.
Generally speaking, this semester has been much calmer than semesters in the past, and I’ve been afforded a great deal of free time. This has been nice and allowed me to step back and really enjoy Vanderbilt for everything it has to offer as I enter my last year here. Stay tuned for more updates throughout the semester regarding the ways in which I’m spending my time as a senior. Thanks for reading, and if you have any questions regarding life at Vanderbilt, feel free to contact me at alex.rains@vanderbilt.edu.
