Big Things This Spring
This spring is definitely the busiest one I’ve had during my Vanderbilt experience so far. Not only are classes enough to keep me occupied, but I’ve been given the chance to participate in a lot of other incredible experiences as well.
Upon returning from winter break, Panhellenic sororities began recruitment almost immediately. While recruitment can at times be stressful, it makes me happy to meet and talk to so many of the incredible women on Vanderbilt’s campus. Once our sorority got our new members, I was tasked with assigning big/little pairs as part of my position within my sorority. This gave me the chance to get to know many of the new members well, and was a really cool opportunity to have.
After recruitment for sororities ended, recruitment for VUcept, the first-year peer mentorship organization at Vanderbilt of which I am the current president, began. From my end, this looked like reading many applications and conducting many interviews. Once our cohort was selected, we were able to welcome them into the VUcept family and begin some of our preliminary orientation prior to our fall training.
In March, I had the opportunity to be an Alternative Spring Break site leader (which I wrote a whole post about!), which meant leading a service trip alongside two other incredible site leaders to Wellington, Colorado.
This April marked the wrapping up of the year, and May will be my time to study for and take the MCAT. Time seems to fly here at Vanderbilt, but this semester has easily been one of my best.
