Rafting Down the Ocoee

Posted by on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 in College Life, Extracurriculars, Greek Life, Student Life.

Last Saturday morning, I woke up at 5:30 am. Thankfully I was back asleep by 6:30 because I had a long bus ride ahead of me.

My sorority headed east for our fall sisterhood retreat to go white water rafting! We actually went to the same river that my high school rafted two years ago; however, that trip wasn’t the smoothest:

I can proudly say that no one fell out of our raft this time! Okay, well we all fell out at one point but our guide did it on purpose and it was the third-to-last rapid so I don’t count it. Trip, our rafting instructor, was really funny though, and he was the head honcho so he could do some cool tricks (like “the submarine,” exactly what you’d think) and we felt safe the whole time. After rafting, our group of 50 stopped by Cracker Barrel for dinner. I forget that some of my favorite restaurants don’t exist in the north (don’t get me started on Chick-fil-a) so a bunch of girls finally experienced the deliciousness that is Cracker Barrel. Most of us passed out on the ride home again, so even though I had been up since 5:30, I think I got more sleep than I would have if I had slept in, not to mention the awesome rafting experience I would have missed!
