Exploration Nashville
With half of second semester down, the wonderful week of spring break finally arrived. This year, I decided to spend some time exploring the ever-fun city of Nashville with my friends!
Earlier in the week, we had the perfect weather for walking around town, so we decided to head downtown. We walked to the Pedestrian Bridge, which stretches over the Cumberland River and offers a beautiful view of Nashville’s skyline, especially with all of the city lights on the water. After taking in the view, we headed to dinner at one of the restaurants located on Broadway, the iconic strip of Nashville filled with live music and dancing.
The next day, we had a relaxation-filled day with shopping, movies, and, of course, homemade ice cream sundays! We took an Uber to Charlotte Pike Shopping Center, which had some of our favorite stores, most notably Target and World’s Market.
On Wednesday, we spent the morning in Hillsboro Village, where we ate at the historic Pancake Pantry and Provence Cafe. Provence is a French Cafe that is part of Vanderbilt’s Taste of Nashville Program, which means that students can use their Meal Money to buy their food. After lunch, we headed downtown to spend the afternoon at the Frist Art Museum, which has a college student discount. The museum had a beautiful exhibit, and they rotate their art, so I’m sure I will visit again. They also had an area where you could make your own short film, print press a drawing, and paint, so we had a lot of fun with that!
For dinner, we had a picnic at Love Circle, a hill that overlooks all of Nashville. Love Circle has a beautiful view, and it is only about a thirty minute walk from campus! We even watched the sunset and played with a couple of dogs (my personal favorite part because I miss my own pets back home!). Following the name of the hill, someone proposed to his girlfriend while we were there as well– and she said yes!
On Saturday, we explored Franklin, a historical town about thirty minutes south of Nashville. Franklin has a picturesque downtown, complete with brick sidewalks and adorable shops. It was a great way to spend our afternoon and definitely a place I recommend visiting when visiting (or going to school in) Nashville!
Staying on campus during Spring Break was one of the best decisions I have made in awhile. Not only did I get a chance to catch up on sleep, but I also got to explore the beautiful city that is home to Nashville with some of my favorite people at Vanderbilt.
